our success story

Challenger Sports League, which began the summer of 2002, has been an overwhelming success story! We started in 2002 with 8 players and 4 years later we are now four teams with a total of 105 players. In 2006, Challenger sports league added another success story. Joining Challenger in September 2006 was Sunshine Bowling. Challenger Sunshine Bowling League has 55 players and bowls every Saturday from September to May.

Our Challenger league is open to players of all ages. Each player has a physical or mental condition that limits their participation in Baseball or Bowling competitive programs. Games are structured to allow all players to be involved as they are able. Traditional rules are modified and the focus is always on having fun while learning the game. Players are recognized for their efforts at baseball and bowling banquets. They each receive a trophy for the season. Throughout the year players enjoy pizza parties at their events. They also have a holiday party, a summer picnic, a valentine dance and a “prom” experience. Baseball is free and currently there is a $3.00 charge per week for bowling.
